Trompe L'oeil is a French term meaning to trick the eye.

Trompe L'oeil is the line between fantasy and reality, a trick of perspective that turns the two dimensional into the three dimensional.

Painting a realistic scene is only one part of the trompe l'oeil effect. Often it is the framing or the architectural details that lend further reality to the mural. Three dimensional doors, windows, shutters, columns, arches, curtains, pathways, balustrades or other such elements lend a reality to the scene that can "trick the eye".

For example, a window frame gives the feeling that the scene is lying beyond the wall rather than on the wall.

To tie in with the decor of the room, frames such as doors or windows can be painted to match the existing frames in your room.

Choice of architectural details can not only affect the overall look of the mural, but can also affect time and price. I will be more than happy to help you create the look you want with respect to your budget.

The choices are limitless!
